He believed that diseases had natural causes and not supernatural ones, and that observation and diagnosis were essential for medical practice. He also developed a code of ethics for physicians, known as the Hippocratic Oath, which is still used today. Some of his beliefs were based on the theory of the four humors, which stated that health depended on the balance of four fluids in the body: blood, phlegm, yellow bile and black bile.\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">He also believed in the healing power of nature<\/span> and diet, and advocated for moderation and hygiene<\/p><p>The Hippocratic Oath is a code of ethics that is traditionally attributed to Hippocrates and his students. It is one of the oldest and most famous texts on medical ethics in the Western world. It requires new physicians to swear by various healing gods and to uphold certain principles and standards of conduct while practicing medicine. Some of these principles include respecting their teachers and colleagues, treating their patients with beneficence and non-maleficence, avoiding harm and injustice, keeping confidentiality, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">refraining from giving deadly drugs<\/span> or performing abortions, and living a moral life12.
